It's that time of the month...time for my monthly favorites! I had a lot of favorites this month because I haven't done a favorites post since November (oops!) and I have been trying out a lot of new products since then! So without further ado here are my February 2015 favorites!
This is another great multi tasking hair product! I had been eyeing this product for a while trying to decide whether or not I really needed it. But then I was in Sephora getting ready to check out and they had a mini version in the travel section and I couldn't resist (whoever decided to put all of the travel makeup products by the checkout in Sephora was a genius). I was surprised by how much I really like this product. I find that the best thing about this spray is that its a little stickier than a normal dry shampoo so it holds the volume in my hair for a little longer.
Sephora Metamorphosis Exfoliating Powder
Exfoliating powders are kind of a new skin care craze to hit the beauty world here in the States. I was personally intrigued by the idea and decided to give it a whirl. I picked up this Sephora brand exfoliating powered in store (I was not able to find it online...sorry) when I was home in Missouri after the New Year. I was actually in the store the same day that the Sephora staff was being taught all about this this new type of exfoliator. It was kind of cool to listen in and get some pretty great tips. For me personally I like to use this as a more abrasive exfoliator so I simply dampen my face, shake some of the powder onto dry palms, and scrub away! If you don't want such an abrasive scrub then add water to the powder in your hands or add some of your skin cleanser.
I finally took the plunge (more like I made my wallet a sacrificial lamb) and finally picked up a GLAMGLOW mask to try. HOLY !@#$% this stuff is AMAZING! I suffer from blackheads on my nose and have slightly enlarged pores on my face. This baby has helped minimize the size of my pores and made my skin feel so much cleaner! I feel like when I use this mask it deep cleans. I use this as more of a spot treatment than an all over mask because it is so expensive. I apply this to my nose, my T zone areas, and also my chin because I am currently suffering from some horrendous hormonal acne (thank you Mother Nature).
I recently got around to trying MAC products for the first time. I picked up a lot of the classic cult favorites (Ruby Woo, Plumful, All That Glitters, ect.) and decided to give the Fix+ a try because it was something that intrigued me. I have watched a number of Youtubers use this in tutorials to make their eyeshadow more pigmented. I was actually taken aback by how much I like this product and how much of a difference I think it makes when it comes to pigmentation and how the eyeshadow feels on my eyelids. I really like using this with shadows from my NARS Dual Intensity Palette (see Beauty Buys #1 post for swatches and more on this palette) because while they can be used dry these shadows are so much more pigmented when applied wet. Overall I love this product and it has made a difference in my eye makeup routine!
I'm a fan of wearing sheer lipsticks as more of a day time appropriate look. Urban Decay recently released their Revolution Lipsticks in a sheer version and I am loving them! For a day time look I have been reaching for Liar and layer the Urban Decay Naked Lipgloss also called Liar on top of it! I love how moisturizing these lipsticks are while also not smudging all over the place!
Be warned this stuff will not come off of your hand if you swatch it for a while. I can still see some color from this swatch on my right hand and this picture was taken 3 days ago! This is the perfect going out to the bars red lipstick because it stays in place and does not budge...at all! A little of this goes a long way so make sure you apply a thinner layer and let that dry before you add more! I wore this out a few nights ago to dinner just to test it out and this lipstick did not even leave an imprint on my beer glass! I was impressed. However, this lipstick did not fair too well against a juicy, ginormous burger. But hey, you win some and you lose some.
I've seen people rave about this brush for years. I'm not the type of person to spend more than $20 on a set of brushes because sometimes your fingers or a Q-tip do just as good a job. This brush however is well worth the investment. This baby blends eyeshadows into your crease like a dream and gets rid of any hard edges. Sidenote: Yes, this brush is dirty. Sorry I did not feel like washing it before I took a picture of it. Just think of it as more "rustic" looking.
(Right to Left: Copper, Smokey Topaz, Champagne Pearl, Sugar Plum, and Sage)
I almost didn't buy these, but then I was too tempted by them and gave into my desire to try them out. And boy am I glad that I picked these up! There are shadow stick and then there are THESE shadow sticks! These are in a league all of their own. The pigmentation of these is ridiculous. Those swatches on my hand are just one layer. They blend like a dream and last forever on your eyelids. I went out for my fiancée's birthday this weekend and wore Copper all over my lid and my lower lash line and blended it out for a smoky look. It was such a gorgeous eye look (I would have taken a picture if it wasn't for the fact that I felt horrible and had just taken a four hour nap). I can't wait to test these out some more!
