Beauty Buys #1

I have been saving purchases I have accumulated over the past 2 months to share with y'all in a blog post "series" I have decided to call Beauty Buys.
Basically this post will provide you, my lovely readers, with some mini reviews and swatches of items I have been trying out. I love blog posts like this that review and swatch products because the opinions of others really does help me decide whether or not I want to test out a product. So without further ado, here is what I have purchased recently.

Dove Oxygen Moisture Leave In Foam

When I was home for Christmas I had my hair cut into a shoulder length bob. I love how easy it is to take care of and in all honestly when I am sitting in class day in and day out I don't really style it. However, when I style my hair for a night out I like to do a messy wavy look. That is where the Dove Leave in Foam comes in. It seriously gives my hair some AMAZING volume that lasts all night. I usually apply this to the roots of my second or third day hair (1-2 pumps with my head flipped down towards the ground). Once the foam is evenly dispersed throughout my roots and dried I will take my fingers and move them in a circular motion to add volume. I then style my hair as desired.

GLAMGLOW THIRSTYCLEANSE Daily Treatment Cleanser

I really love GLAMGLOW masks and I was excited when I saw this at Sephora because...
1. Its cheaper than one of their masks,
2. There is a lot of product,
3. It starts out as a clay and turns into foam when water is added.
Amazing product that I love using as my final cleanser at the end of the day. It makes my skin feel so soft and clean.

boscia Luminizing Black Mask

I'm a huge fan of boscia skin care products. I picked up this mask because I have heard great things about it and it did not disappoint. After I left it on for 30 minutes and peeled it off (which hurt slightly) my skin appeared brighter and softer.

boscia Exfoliating Peel Gel

HOLY GRAIL SKIN CARE ALERT! This product is AMAZING! I have been dealing with dry skin all winter and nothing has helped remove dry patches. After trying a number of exfoliators and hydrating masks and basically giving up, I decided to give this product a try because it interested me. This stuff really works to remove dead skin and dry patches! When you rub this gel onto dry skin (its very important that your face and hands be dry or the product will stick to your skin and be hard to remove) you can see the product actually working and dead skin cells peeling off. It leaves your skin feeling super soft and your skin will be dry skin free! Also after using this product make sure that you DO NOT apply any kind of moisturizers, eye creams, ect. if you have sensitive. I made the mistake of apply my eye cream 20 minutes after using this and it hurt like no other (which probably was my own stupidity because you should not apply moisturizers  after removing a bunch of dead skin cells). This is hands down my #1 best purchase in the past few months! I highly recommend it.

Jo Malone Wood Sage & Sea Salt Cologne

This is my new Spring/Summer scent. I know this perfume made the rounds on a few blogs during the Winter months but in all honesty I found this to be a scent I associate more with Spring/Summer because of the salt. I have already begun to use this in place of my Jo Malone Pomegranate Noir Cologne (which is an amazing warm, fruity scent for Fall/Winter) and it has helped get me even more excited for the upcoming spring weather!

Urban Decay Naked Skin Concealer in Fair Neutral

I had heard great things about this new concealer in the Naked line from Urban Decay. I can honestly say this product did not disappoint. It works well to cover blemishes and is moisturizing for under eye concealment as well. The only thing about this product is to watch out for the applicator because it will apply a lot more concealer than you actually need.

L'Oréal Infallible Smokissime

These are new from the drugstore and great for when you want a quick smokey eye. I lightly apply this (sometimes the applicator can pick up too much product) to my upper eyelids close to my lash line as if I am doing a winged liner. Once it is applied a smudge it out with my fingers and I am ready to go. I think these are a great idea for a smokey eye on the go.

NARissist Dual Intensity Eyeshadow Palette

I had been eyeing this pallet since I first saw it on the NARS website and debated about whether or not I should get it. I finally justified purchasing it because it is different from the other palettes I have (I'm a person who loves neutral pallets). These shadows can be used either dry or wet. I prefer to use them wet (pictured above) because the pigmentation is so much better. I just spray my eyeshadow brush with MAC Fix Plus Spray and swirl it around in the shadow before I pat it onto my eyelids.

MAC Custom Palette Eyeshadow x4

I have never tried any MAC products before and decided to give their eyeshadows a try by making my own custom palette. All I can say is WOW! The color pigmentation of these shadows is amazing and I love the colors I picked out for a great, everyday look. This has been my most used palette recently.

Cover Girl Full Lash Bloom Mascara

I decided to pick this mascara up and give it a try since it was new at drugstores. In all honesty I was not too impressed. I feel like Cover Girl is constantly trying to make a mascara as popular as their Lash Blast Volume was back in the day (I wore Lash Blast mascara when I was in high school). They market this as being a mousse formula but in all honesty it feels and wears on the lashes like any other Cover Girl mascara. This mascara isn't horrible by any means, but there are so many better mascara options at the drugstore.

Charlotte Tilbury K.I.S.S.I.N.G. Lipstick in Bitch Perfect and So Marilyn

Charlotte Tilbury Lip Cheat in Pillow Talk

I have been wanting to try Charlotte Tilbury products since they finally became available in the States. I decided to just stick with lip products first and picked up two of her K.I.S.S.I.N.G. Lipsticks in So Marilyn and Bitch Perfect. I was amazed by how good these felt on the lips. It was just the perfect amount of moisturizing and the perfect amount of drying. I also love the Charlotte Tilbury Lip Cheat in Pillow Talk (if anyone else here follows Amelia Liana you know she constantly raves about this liner). This lip liner paired with Bitch Perfect is my favorite lip combo at the moment.

Revlon Color Burst Just Bitten Kissable Balm in Honey

This is one of my favorite drugstore lip products I have ever owned! This product is just the perfect natural, everyday color for my skin tone and it moisturizes my lips perfectly. I had been looking for this for months before I found it at the Ulta in my hometown when I was home for Christmas and was worth the wait!

Bite Beauty Matte Crème Lip Crayon in Sucré

I've heard a lot about Bite Beauty and decided to give it a try. I swatched this on the back of my hand when I was in Sephora and fell in love with the color! As you can tell from the swatches at the bottom of this page I tend to go for what I consider to be "rose" colored lip products. If a lip color name has the word "rose" in it I most likely have it. I like the color pigmentation of this product and the way it feels on my lips. This is a very moisturizing matte and I love that it doesn't feel as drying on my lips like most matte lip products.

Urban Decay Naked Nourishing Lip Gloss in Liar and Beso

Another product from the Urban Decay Naked line. I'm usually not much of a lip gloss person, but I love these lips glosses! The colors are gorgeous and look very natural on my lips. I also like that they don't leave my lips feeling super sticky either. I hate the feeling of sticky things on my lips.  I would say these are as good as the NYX Butter glosses.
