First off I want to wish all of my lovely readers a very Happy New Year (even if it is a little late)! I have been taking a much needed break and tomorrow I will back into the law school grind! I hope y'all have had a great start to the New Year.
To get back into the swing of things I wanted to talk about what my New Year Resolutions/Changes are.
1) Post More on the Blog and Social Media
I want to be doing more posts on the blog this year. Instead of my usual 1 to 2 posts a week whenever I feel like it I have decided that I will have a new post up every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday morning! This way I will have a schedule to hold myself to and also you, my readers, will know when to check the blog for a new post. I will also be using my Twitter and Instagram accounts more. I already use Instagram pretty regularly but I am seriously lacking in the Twitter department. I want to get myself into the habit of using Twitter to communicate with people more regularly. 2) It's About Quality, Not Quantity
I did Blogmas for the first time and it taught me a very valuable lesson. It's about quality, not quantity. I found that towards the middle and end of Blogmas I became very unhappy with the posts I was putting up just because I felt like I had to in order to keep up with my goal of blogging every day until Christmas. I want to put out more quality posts, so that means in the next month or so I will be experimenting with how I photograph for my blog, what I write about, and also the over all layout of my blog. I want to take the time to make sure that my blog is not only an enjoyable place for me but for my readers as well.
3) I Want to Interact with My Readers More
I know that behind every number on the stats page of my blog is a real person and I want to get to know y'all better! I want to have conversations with real live people from all over the world, from different cultures and backgrounds. That is one of the reasons I started this blog because I wanted to meet and interact with others. I think somewhere along the way I have lost sight of that, I let my sometimes shy, introverted personality get the better of me. So it is my goal to meet new people and make friends through this whole experience. To fully enjoy everything that the blogging community has to offer. And I want you, my readers, to know how truly appreciative I am of your time and willingness to look at my little place on the Internet.
4) Eat Healthier
I'm sure this is a pretty basic goal for everyone but for me I am taking it seriously. I grew up with a mom who cooked all organic and healthy foods and since I have moved out some 5 years ago I have found myself not eating as well as I use too. When I cook, I do cook pretty healthy, but the struggle with cooking is I feel like there are not enough hours in the day and often time I would eat out more then cook. So in order to eat better I have taken the time to plan out my monthly meals and planned a reasonable food budget. This way I can not only eat healthy, but save money and stop wasting food by planning meals with similar, healthy ingredients. However, I also want to give myself a chance every once in a while to splurge so I am allowing myself one splurge a week wether it be a meal out or a super sugary drink from Starbucks. Nothing is bad for you in moderation after all.
5) Exercise Differently
I also want to exercise more, but in a way different then how I usually do and stick with it. For once I'm not going to exercise to lose weight, in fact I am not even going to step on a scale. In the past I have obsessed over my weight to the point of it being unhealthy. So instead my approach is simple. Exercise to make myself feel good and be reasonable with my expectations. Instead of exercising 7 days a week for almost 2 hours and then stopping altogether when it gets to be too much, I have decided to only exercise 4 days a week for around an hour and to make smarter choices in between workouts. This means more stairs and less elevators, more walking and less using the CTA, and more healthy food choices and less junk food.
